ClearPoint Strategy's analysis of more than 20,000 real strategic plans — 31.2 million data points across seven industries, tracked from 2017 to 2024 — found that 84.5% of strategic projects never reached completion. Only 12.5% of strategic projects tracked in the study were ever finished. Only 5.7% of organizations completed 75% or more of their planned initiatives, a group the researchers call high performers; 83.17% of organizations completed less than a quarter of theirs.
